Sanah was chasing his dreams at the horizons of an already daunting success. He was the best in his field. There was hardly any competition, but there was somehow, a subtle blank!
Sanah was always an earthy individual with great aspirations, with dreams of a loving family, with desires of being cherished, and with hopes of being appreciated. There was hardly anything that seemed unaccomplished.
“I have booked a grand holiday package for you Karan. I am sure you and Sophia would love it! They have special attractions for kids too. It will be a great experience I hope. Both the two of you and kids will have a memorable holiday,” announced Sanah to his younger brother. Karan replied, “Thanks Bhaiya! That is the most thoughtful gift for our Silver Anniversary!”
Sanah cared for the tiniest expectations of everyone around him. There wouldn’t be anyone around him, left not feeling special!
He was the perfect hero. His yang was well placed, robust and flourishing. Yin was still searching. Yes our inner, more sensitive and tender selves.
Performing arts allow us to exhale our deepest pressures through expressions of gestures or emotions etc. But then there are those deeper feelings that we often prefer to keep restrained and confined to our own understanding and share only with the special one in our lives. Sanah’s life too had a bubble. Where this vacuum had created a void. Although everyone knew, but no one could dare to step in there.
This is where the story began. With a life where one has achieved a significant level of success, which although impressive, comes with challenges, difficulties or responsibilities that may seem intimidating or overwhelming.
Amid such frenzy there was a tender being still living within Sanah, bustling with the anxiety to share his feelings and thoughts rippling throughout his-self but which he continued to sustain within.
“Why don’t you start writing?” questioned his therapist. “It will not only help you keep it to yourself, but you will be able to exert all your deepest thoughts!”
“I cannot take the chance to do that. You know that could be a disaster if someone got access!” Sanah protested.
It suggests that when the achievement is substantial, it warrants serious consideration of the tasks or obstacles that accompany it. Essentially, it acknowledges that success can bring its own set of daunting challenges alongside its rewards. And Sanah was no exception.
The thought becoming stronger within, Sanah decided to take to the writing option. He would write with a pencil and erase it. But this… “Something’s not right!” He gave up that too.
One fine day he woke up, picked a pen and began writing. He wrote –
“Life is good, but still and silent.
Awaiting the one,
that rises to flaunt the scent.
Peace is the luxury I haven’t availed,
She cares for the moon, unaware.
I wish the wind was a horse,
so I could ride to the course.
O Life! You are abundant on my end,
Perchance wash-ashore me a friend.
Yore has no parables to my dreams,
All I find is my silent screams!”
And then, Sanah picked a pencil to sketch something. That night he slept peacefully. Woke up the next morning to feel the breeze that was perhaps touching him for the first time ever!

We all live a little Sanah within us. All that this entity needs is a silent, more concealed friend who can help us to express our innermost desires. Those desires we shy away from, or the ones that may reflect our weaknesses. We often fear these becoming known, lest these could be weaponized against us. But just as concealed as it is, the means to bring him out are equally subtle. So would it be a pen or a pencil, only the little Sanah knows…! Keep expressing!!
